Wedding photographers are the unsung heroes of the wedding industry. They’re responsible for capturing all of those precious moments you want to remember forever!
Most photographers have a limited time they stay
Most photographers have a limited time they stay. They typically arrive and leave within the first hour of the reception, in order to avoid being accused of being a wedding guest instead of a working photographer. If you want your guests to be able to enjoy themselves, there’s no reason why your photographer should feel like they need to stick around until the very end.
If you’d like them there longer than an hour or two, don’t be afraid to ask!
Many photographers leave after certain events happen
There are many reasons why photographers leave early.
- Some photographers leave after the first dance, but not all. Others might stay a little later if they feel like everyone’s in a good mood and there’s no chance of things getting out of hand.
- If you’re having a cocktail hour, some photographers will stay for that.
- Some will also stay for your cake cutting if it takes place during dinner service at the reception hall or on-site caterer (most likely), who will often have their own wedding cake on hand. There may be additional costs involved in covering this event, though—it may not be covered under your package price!
Photographers are also hired separately to photograph the reception
Photographers are also hired separately to photograph the reception. These photographers don’t have to stay for the whole reception, but they usually do. This is because they tend to be different people than those who photographed your ceremony and may have a different style and price. If you want an all-day photographer, ask about pricing; it could cost up to $3,000 more per day (for example).
What you have to know about wedding photographers not staying for the whole reception
You may be surprised to learn that a wedding photographer is not required to stay for the whole reception. They are also not required to stay until the end of the night, or even until the end of the wedding. In fact, they don’t have any obligations at all after they finish taking photos at your ceremony!
There are many reasons why photographers might choose not to remain at your ceremony and reception following their work there:
- They don’t want to disrupt things by being there
- They want a family member or friend who couldn’t attend in person to see their photos sooner rather than later (so they upload them online)
- They aren’t interested in seeing what happens next—they just want it documented so that you can look back on it later
We hope this has shed some light on the situation, and we want to remind you that it’s okay if your photographer leaves before the reception is over. If they stay for the whole event, great! But more important than anything else is that you have a amazing wedding celebration with all of your closest friends and family members.
