A destination wedding is a dream come true for many couples. The chance to exchange vows in a beautiful setting, surrounded by loved ones and new friends, can be the perfect way to start off your marriage. However, if you’re planning a destination wedding there are some things you should know about hiring destination photographers before making any decisions.
Check their contract for travel fees.
Travel fees can be a big expense, so make sure to check their contract for travel fees and see if they’re negotiable. The good news is that you may be able to negotiate these rates. Have you ever heard the saying “if you don’t ask, then you won’t get”? Well in business, it’s true too!
Look for wedding photographers that specialize in destination weddings.
Your best bet is to hire a wedding photographer who specializes in destination weddings. They’ll know the ins and outs of traveling with a camera, will have no problem working with different kinds of light and landscapes, and will be able to capture your special day from many different angles.
If you can’t afford a photographer who has done a lot of destination weddings, ask for photos from previous clients so you can see their style. Look for someone whose portfolio shows a wide range of styles; they should be comfortable shooting everything from traditional portraits to candid shots that show off personality. If they specialize in one kind of photography over another (say portrait or documentary), it’s okay—as long as they have experience with both types!
Meet with the photographer in person if you can, otherwise do a video conference.
If you can, meet with your photographer in person. You want to make sure that they can capture the best shots on their camera and know how to use it well. If this isn’t possible, video conference is an option as long as you have a reliable internet connection and are using a quality device (i.e., not your phone). Skype or Google Hangout are great for one-on-one conversations so long as both parties have good speakers, microphones and cameras. For larger groups of people who want to participate in the same conversation, try using one of these options:
Video Conference Apps: Zoom/GoToMeeting — These apps allow up to 15 people per meeting at no cost! You may need to pay for more than two hours though if your event goes longer than that time frame allows without purchasing additional minutes beforehand through the app itself (which would require reopening another browser tab). This can be done by clicking “Buy More Minutes” from within each application before starting up again later on down the road too!
Video Conference Rooms: Zoom Rooms — A virtual room where up 25 users can join together online via video feed making it very easy for them all see what each other looks like while talking across continents from around world thanks technology advances made over past few years.”
Search for a second shooter.
It’s always better to have two photographers, since they can take turns with the camera. They can also help each other with group shots, formal shots and details. Two photographers will also be able to capture wide angles as well as tight angles.
So, how much should you expect to pay a destination wedding photographer?
Well, it really depends on a number of factors, such as the length of time they’ll be needed, the number of photographers you want, the number of locations, and so on. However, as a general guide, you should expect to pay anywhere from $2000 to $5000 for a destination wedding photographer. Of course, if you want a really top-notch photographer, you may have to pay even more. But, at the end of the day, it’s your choice. You need to decide what’s important to you and what you’re willing to spend.
Destination wedding photographers may cost more but it is worth it to get the photos you want from your dream location.
The cost of hiring a destination wedding photographer can vary widely depending on the number of days you book with them and where you are going. A photographer’s price will depend on how many days they are shooting, their experience level and what type of package you choose.
Before signing on with a destination wedding photographer, make sure that they have shot at your dream location before. You don’t want to get stuck paying extra money to get the shots that they promised to take but can’t because they’ve never been there before!
If you’re nervous about finding a good fit or want more information, talk with other couples who have used that particular service provider before booking them yourself (and vice versa).
The good news is, you don’t have to pay a fortune. You can find a wedding photographer that won’t break the bank. The best thing you can do is contact your local wedding planning groups to see if they have any recommendations. Also, check out my list of the best photographers in your area!
I hope this helped answer any questions about how much you should expect to pay for your destination wedding photographer! If there are any other questions I didn’t cover here or if anything seems unclear, please let me know so I can update this blog post with more information on it.
